[GINZA ATRIUM] Ginza Tsutaya Books “Spring Art Exhibition”

In spring, when cherry blossoms begin to bloom and the season brings a sense of new growth, we present works by three artists whose distinctive artistic worlds leave a powerful impression on viewers.

Koichiro Azuma, Mai Doyama, and Kei Watanabe are three emerging artists whose future contributions to spatial expression are highly anticipated. Their talents were recently showcased in graduation exhibitions at their respective universities and graduate schools.

Azuma, who creates primarily kinetic sculptures by combining bicycles and metal, attracted considerable attention at the recent graduation exhibition at Tokyo University of the Arts with his powerful work Rotating Absence. Doyama, an iron sculptor who graduated top of her class from the Department of Sculpture, Faculty of Fine Arts, Tama Art University, and is currently enrolled in the university’s graduate program in sculpture, has already been actively holding solo exhibitions. Watanabe, whose work centers on the theme of “small spaces,” is known for delicate sculptures mainly in wood, and has exhibited not only in Japan but also across Asia.

Although the materials and techniques used by each artist differ entirely, the atmosphere and presence of their works radiate an overwhelming appeal through their distinct artistic visions.

Ginza Tsutaya Books connects art, Japanese culture, and everyday life through books, and proposes a lifestyle enriched by art. We hope this exhibition will provide an opportunity for visitors to encounter new discoveries.
